DEMO - DEVELOPING MODERNIZED CURRICULA ON IMMIGRANTS' LIVES IN ISRAEL
October 2017 – October 2020 Erasmus + project page
DEMO is a Capacity Building project (KA2) funded by the European Commission, Erasmus + program. Initiated and coordinated by the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, it involves eleven academic institutions in Israel and in Europe, two NGOs and over sixty participants.
DEMO aspires to advance teaching about migrants' lives in Israeli Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). This, with the aim of improving the skills of professionals in applied social sciences (teachers, counselors, social workers, psychologists, etc.) so that they can better meet the needs of migrants.
To achieve this, we are developing, implementing and disseminating courses on the lives of migrants. By applying advanced teaching methodologies, we encourage a personal and meaningful learning process that enables the students to connect to their own and their families' migration histories. By means of the community involved and arts-based methodologies, students in DEMO courses document narratives of migrants and study them.
The DEMO project follows the core ethical principles.
